Chemicals in Our Food Supply

Chemicals in our food, air, water, and environment cause major disease, illness, and syndromes. The evidence is everywhere from news stories (Chemicals in Food Can Make You Fat), (U.S. facing ‘grievous harm’ from chemicals in air, food, water, panel says) to Naturopathic Doctors (The Importance of Eating Organic) to mainstream medical journals (Organic foods in relation to nutrition and health key facts). Autoimmune disorders, cancer, allergies, hyperactivity, obesity, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and numerous other disorders can be linked to pesticides, herbicides, neurotoxins, and other chemicals that are found in ever increasing concentrations in our blood and fat cells. They destroy the myelin sheath surrounding the nerves, they weaken the muscles, and damage the brain, liver, and other vital organs. There is no way to be completely chemical free, but eating organic foods can reduce your exposure. Since I have gone organic I can now smell and taste the pesticides and herbicides in food when I can’t find an organic option. One recent example was bananas. My local store did not have any organic bananas and I felt I needed the nutrients they offer so I got the non-organic ones. Each time I peeled one and tried to eat it I could smell the chemicals. Same thing with non-organic sunflower seeds. So please, please, please – eat organic whenever possible. And make some noise at your local grocers when they don’t have organic choices available. Supply follows demand. If we don’t demand organics and buy them more, they will never become readily available and affordable. Your health, the health of your family, and the health of the planet depend on it!

You certainly do your homework. I’ve been trying to learn yoga to balance myself out too. Eating the right foods has been difficult for me when I lack the motivation. I’m motivated to get happy, healthy, and wise. I’m working on the happy part now, and I can see you’re paving the way for me to be healthy. Wise…
